My interest in underwater photography began in 2021, but it wasn’t until 2022 that I seriously started looking for an underwater housing for my Canon R5 that would work with a RF 24-70 2.8 L lens. The price turned out to be incredibly high, so I began exploring different alternatives. One option was a silicone bag in which the camera is placed, paired with a dome attached to the lens. However, this felt a bit risky for the camera, so I did some more research and came across some amazing photos taken with a GoPro 12. With it, you could also buy a dome for capturing 50/50 shots. The price was about 10 times cheaper than purchasing underwater housing for the Canon R5, so I decided to order one to test it out.
The quality turned out to be pretty good, although not comparable to my Canon R5. The ability to shoot in RAW was available, which is a must if you want to edit your photos properly.
Now, I’ve invested in an Ikelite underwater housing and use my Canon R5 for both photography and filming. I’m incredibly happy with both the balance and the quality of the underwater housing! Some of the photos are from my GoPro and som efrom my Canon R5.
